The eastern of the three marine parks of Masoala National Park (Parc National, Décret n° 97-141 of 2 March 1997), a detached marine parcel on the Indian Ocean side of the peninsula off Antsabobe/Ampanavoana (Antalaha district). It is listed as the 'Parcelle détachée marine Tanjona' on the official SAPM portal and named 'Tanjona' in the IUCN/WIOMSA manual (which records the conflict with fishers from Antsabobe over this marine park) and 'Ifaho' in other sources. As a Parc National under COAP (Loi 2015-005), hunting and the capture of animals are prohibited over the entire extent of the park (Art. 14), sustainable-use rights do not apply over the whole extent of a Parc National (Art. 39), and chasse sous-marine (spearfishing) without the conforming opinion of the manager and the Ministry is an offence (Art. 55 §21). Spearfishing is not permitted.

Sport/recreational fishing must be covered by a fishing protocol with the Ministry in charge of Fisheries, and the vessel/boat used must hold a fishing licence (Loi 2015-053 Art. 41-42); conditions set by regulation. In practice, operators/divers obtain a spearfishing permit from the local Fisheries office (often arranged by charter operators).
