Under Article 33 of the 2007 Fisheries Code, harpoon fishing ('peche au harpon', i.e. spearfishing) and foot-gleaning are prohibited on coral reefs throughout Comorian maritime waters.

Obtain a prior permit from an approved agency or association ('agence ou association agreee'), or failing that from the fisheries administration, in coordination with the competent authorities of the autonomous island concerned.
