Tajikistan

Asia · Central Asia

Tajikistan is a landlocked Central Asian country, so there is no marine spearfishing; only inland (freshwater) fishing in rivers, lakes and reservoirs exists. Recreational/amateur and sport fishing is legal and regulated under the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan 'On Fish Farming' (No. 220, 22 December 2006), with the order of amateur and sport fishing set by the authorized state body (Ministry of Agriculture / Mohii Tajikistan). No located source (national legislation, fisheries authority or dive/fishing guides) specifically mentions underwater hunting (подводная охота), spearguns or harpoons for Tajikistan, so the legality of spearfishing as a distinct method could not be confirmed and is marked unknown. Destructive methods (explosives, poison/chemicals, electric current) are illegal. A general spawning closed season (1 April - 15 June) applies nationwide, and a fishing permit is required.

Mga Paghihigpit

  • Explosives / dynamite fishing prohibited (illegal, heavy fines or imprisonment)
  • Chemical poisoning of fish prohibited
  • Electric shock devices / electrofishing prohibited

Destructive fishing methods (explosives, poison/chemicals, electric current) are illegal. No located source specifically addresses spearguns, harpoons, underwater hunting (подводная охота) or SCUBA-assisted fishing for Tajikistan, so these are left as unknown (null). The prohibition of explosives/poison/electric current is reported by a fishing guide (secondary) and is consistent with the regional Soviet-derived fishing rules; the verbatim Tajik provision listing prohibited gear (expected in Regulation No. 314 of 1992 or Law No. 1021 of 2013) could not be retrieved.

Mga ipinagbabawal na lugar

  • Recreational fishers may fish in the waterbodies of all regions except protected territories, private aquaculture farms, other enterprises, and territories allocated to fishing clubs. Fishing in waterbodies of the protection zone of reserves (заповедники) by commercial subjects is only allowed by agreement with the authorized body (Law 'On Fish Farming', Articles 8 and 12). Specific named reserves and coordinates were not retrievable.

  • State nature reserve (zapovednik, ~49,786 ha) at the confluence of the Vakhsh and Panj rivers (forming the Amu Darya) protecting tugay riparian/wetland ecosystem and water-associated species. As a specially protected natural area (заповедник), it falls under the existing general prohibition: recreational fishing is not permitted in protected territories without authorization. UNESCO World Heritage listed.

  • High-altitude Lake Zorkul in Gorno-Badakhshan, protected as the Zorkul Nature Reserve and a Ramsar wetland (Ref. no. 1086, designated 18 July 2001); also within Tajik National Park. As a specially protected natural area, recreational fishing is restricted/prohibited under the general protected-territories rule.

  • State nature reserve / UNESCO biosphere reserve on the southern slopes of the Gissar Range in the headwaters of the Kofarnihon (Romit gorge), established 1959. Mountain streams here hold trout and marinka. As a specially protected natural area (заповедник), fishing is restricted/prohibited under the general protected-territories rule. Center point given for the Romit gorge.

Mga tala ng mananaliksik

Tajikistan is landlocked (coastline=false); there is no marine spearfishing. Only freshwater fishing exists. Recreational/amateur and sport fishing is legal and regulated, but no retrieved source - national legislation, the fisheries/environmental authority, dive federations, or fishing guides - specifically addresses underwater hunting (подводная охота), spearguns or harpoons in Tajikistan; therefore spearfishing as a distinct method is marked 'unknown' rather than yes/no. Verbatim legal text was obtained only for the 2006 Law 'On Fish Farming' (No. 220) via the FAO FAOLEX repository, which is authoritative but is an enabling/framework law and does not enumerate prohibited fishing gear. The more detailed prohibited-methods provisions are expected in the 2013 Law No. 1021 and the 1992 Regulation No. 314, but the official Adlia (adlia.tj) full-text pages repeatedly timed out and could not be fetched, so those verbatim provisions are NOT included here (anti-fabrication). The prohibition of explosives/poison/electric current and the trout closed season come from a secondary fishing guide and are not verbatim-confirmed against legislation. data_confidence is set to 'low' accordingly. To raise confidence, retrieve the verbatim text of Law No. 1021 (2013) and Regulation No. 314 (1992) from adlia.tj/ncz.tj and confirm whether any provision names подводная охота / гарпун / острога.
