Marine Life Conservation District offshore of Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park on the western (Kona) coast of Hawaii Island, about 12 miles south of Kailua-Kona (~315 acres, established 1969). Spearfishing is not among the permitted methods; only hook-and-line, thrownet, and specified methods for akule, opelu, and crustaceans are allowed in Subzone B. Possession in the water of any device capable of taking marine life (other than safety knives) is prohibited.
