Angola's oldest and largest protected area in Namibe Province, with roughly 160-200 km of Atlantic coastline and the Cunene River delta/Baia dos Tigres, co-managed by the Angolan Government and African Parks. As a national park its coastal and offshore areas are protected; fishing/extractive activity is restricted within the conservation area. Specific marine-use rules are administered by the park authority.

Competition spearfishers must additionally hold a special licence, a medical fitness certificate from the Centro de Medicina Desportiva de Angola, and pass an examination before a three-member jury (two from the Port Captaincy, one from the Angolan Sports Fishing Association).
