General fishing permits, where required, are issued by State Fisheries Departments and vary by State; marine fishing vessels are registered/licensed under State Marine Fishing Regulation Acts. Any activity inside a Sanctuary or Marine National Park requires a permit from the Chief Wild Life Warden under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
