Marine Protected Area declared 22 December 2021 by Nicaragua's National Assembly covering the Corn Islands archipelago (Big and Little Corn Island) off the South Caribbean coast. Protects coral reefs, mangroves, seagrasses, hawksbill sea turtles, hammerhead sharks and black corals. Spearfishing on the reefs is incompatible with the no-take/stringent-fishing core zone.
