Large no-take marine protected area (about 200,000 km2) declared by Papua New Guinea in the Bismarck Sea around the Western Islands of Manus Province (Wuvulu, Hermit, Ninigo, Kaniet groups), the largest MPA in PNG history and part of the Melanesian Ocean Corridor. The sanctuary prohibits all fishing and other extractive activities, so spearfishing is banned. Coordinates are an approximate centre for the Western Islands area.
