El Salvador has no statute that names 'pesca submarina' (spearfishing) or 'arpon' (speargun) specifically. Recreational underwater fishing falls under 'pesca deportiva' (sport fishing), classified as a non-commercial extraction activity ('extraccion no comercial') under the Ley General de Ordenacion y Promocion de Pesca y Acuicultura (Decree 637, 2001).
