Designated a Marine Protected Area in 2017 and part of the 2012 UNESCO pearling World Heritage component; an annual whale shark (Rhincodon typus) aggregation site (May/September). Highest coral/algae/reef-fish diversity of Bahrain's reef sites. No exact published boundary; representative northern point.
