Tajikistan is a landlocked Central Asian country, so there is no marine spearfishing; only inland (freshwater) fishing in rivers, lakes and reservoirs exists. Recreational/amateur and sport fishing is legal and regulated under the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan 'On Fish Farming' (No. 220, 22 December 2006), with the order of amateur and sport fishing set by the authorized state body (Ministry of Agriculture / Mohii Tajikistan). No located source (national legislation, fisheries authority or dive/fishing guides) specifically mentions underwater hunting (подводная охота), spearguns or harpoons for Tajikistan, so the legality of spearfishing as a distinct method could not be confirmed and is marked unknown. Recreational fishers may fish in the waterbodies of all regions except protected territories, private aquaculture farms, other enterprises, and territories allocated to fishing clubs. Recreational/amateur and sport fishing is legal and regulated, but no retrieved source - national legislation, the fisheries/environmental authority, dive federations, or fishing guides - specifically addresses underwater hunting (подводная охота), spearguns or harpoons in Tajikistan; therefore spearfishing as a distinct method is marked 'unknown' rather than yes/no. Verbatim legal text was obtained only for the 2006 Law 'On Fish Farming' (No. 220) via the FAO FAOLEX repository, which is authoritative but is an enabling/framework law and does not enumerate prohibited fishing gear. The more detailed prohibited-methods provisions are expected in the 2013 Law No. 1021 and the 1992 Regulation No. 314, but the official Adlia (adlia.tj) full-text pages repeatedly timed out and could not be fetched, so those verbatim provisions are NOT included here (anti-fabrication).
