Översikt

Hur harpunfiske behandlas vid Fagasa No-Take Marine Protected Areas (Fagasa Bay).

Village no-take marine protected areas in Fagasa Bay on the north coast of Tutuila, co-managed under the Community-Based Fisheries Management Program and recognized within the National Park of American Samoa. While traditional subsistence fishing (rod-and-reel, net/basket or pole-spear) is otherwise allowed in park waters, the Fagasa No-Take MPAs in Fagasa Bay are the express exception and are closed to all fishing (NPSA Superintendent's Compendium under 36 CFR 2.3(a)). Spearfishing is therefore prohibited within these no-take areas.
