Old Kona Airport Marine Life Conservation District (Big Island, Hawaii)

Marine Life Conservation District (~217 acres, established 1992) offshore of the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area on the western coast of Hawaii Island, immediately north of Kailua-Kona town, extending 500 yards seaward from the Kailua Lighthouse to Keahuolu Point. Spearfishing is prohibited; the only permitted fishing methods are handline at night for akule, opelu by net, and thrownet/pole-and-line from shore for finfish.
