Albania's only national marine park (Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Island, Vlorë County), designated 28 April 2010, covering roughly 125 km². All fishing activities were banned within the protected area by a Ministry of Agriculture regulation in October 2021.

Amateur fishing authorization is granted by the competent local authority and requires membership of a national association.
