South Tomi wreck site, off Geraldton (Western Australia)

A small rectangular total fishing closure over the wreck of the South Tomi, the Togolese-flagged longliner seized in 2001 after a 3,900-nautical-mile chase from Heard Island and scuttled as a dive wreck off Geraldton. Clause 2 of the Prohibition on Fishing (“South Tomi” Wreck Site) Order 2005 (Order No. 22 of 2005, s.43 of the Fish Resources Management Act 1994) prohibits fishing by any means in the waters described in the Schedule, which includes spearfishing. Diving the wreck is not restricted by this order, only fishing.
