Nambung Bay Special Purpose Shore Based Activities Area, Jurien Bay Marine Park (Western Australia)

A special-purpose management area of Jurien Bay Marine Park covering the Nambung Bay shore between 30°31.719’S and 30°33.823’S. Clause 4(1) of the Prohibition on Recreational Fishing (Jurien Bay Marine Park) Order 2005 (Order No. 18 of 2005, made under s.43 of the Fish Resources Management Act 1994) prohibits all recreational fishing here. Clauses 4(2) and 4(3) restore only shore-based, boat-free fishing: abalone or rock lobster taken without diving, a fishing line, or a fishing net. Spearfishing is in none of those categories, so no speargun, harpoon, gidgie or Hawaiian sling may be used in this area. Enforcement is by DPIRD fisheries officers; the inshore strip of Nambung Bay, adjoining but separate from the Nambung Bay Sanctuary Zone further offshore.
