Restricted Access Zone 1 (RAZ-1), West Coast Bays Marine Park (South Australia)

Restricted access zone of the West Coast Bays Marine Park, enclosing the island and surrounding waters at Nicolas Baudin Island Conservation Park off Cape Blanche on the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. Under regulation 9(3)(c) of the Marine Parks (Zoning) Regulations 2012 a person must not enter or remain in, or engage in any activity in, a restricted access zone (expiation fee $750), so spearfishing here is an offence — as is simply being in the water. The Department for Environment and Water's own table of activities and uses lists spear fishing as not allowed in a restricted access zone. The closure runs all year. No Special Purpose Area touches this zone, so nothing reinstates fishing inside it. Note that the zone has a land component (the island itself) and a marine component; the mapped point is in the sea about 220 m off the island's north-west shore.
