The stretch of sea in front of Capo Bianco is the third zona A (riserva integrale) of the Capo Rizzuto marine protected area under the decree of 19 February 2002. All four of its boundary points lie offshore, and inside it professional and sport fishing with any gear, spearfishing, diving, bathing, anchoring and navigation are prohibited.

Register as a recreational/sport sea fisher (age 16+) via the national MASAF system; from January 2026 register and declare catches of listed species through the EU RecFishing app under Reg. (UE) 2023/2842. No exam required for spearfishing itself.
