Big River Estuary State Marine Conservation Area (California)

The Big River estuary at Mendocino, Mendocino County (0.13 sq mi). The only recreational take permitted is surfperch by hook and line from shore only, plus Dungeness crab by hoop net or hand. Because spearfishing under 14 CCR §1.76 is take by a person in the water, the shore-only hook-and-line carve-out cannot be used by a diver: spearfishing is prohibited.
