West Island Restricted Access Zone (RAZ-4), Encounter Marine Park (South Australia)

Restricted access zone of the Encounter Marine Park under the Marine Parks Act 2007 (SA). Except as the regulations otherwise allow, a person must not enter or remain in, or engage in any activity in, a restricted access zone (Marine Parks (Zoning) Regulations 2012 reg 9(3)(c), expiation fee $750), so spearfishing and even being in the water there are offences. Official identification: "Restricted Access Zone 4 follows Area 2 boundary within West Island Aquatic Reserve." A second instrument closes a much larger area to the spear: these waters are part of the West Island Encounter Bay Aquatic Reserve, in which section 76 of the Fisheries Management Act 2007 (SA) and regulation 4(a)(v) and (b)(v) of the Fisheries Management (Aquatic Reserves) Regulations 2016 permit only hand-line and rod-and-line fishing, and this restricted access zone is only about 8% of that reserve — the rest is mapped separately.
