The minister responsible for the merchant marine may, by order (arrêté), prohibit spearfishing in specific stretches of the littoral, notably for safety reasons.

Apply to the délégation des pêches maritimes of your region (issued by the chef de la direction de la marine marchande et des pêches maritimes or a delegated chef de quartier maritime). Requirements: be at least 18 (16+ with written parental consent), meet physical-aptitude conditions set by joint ministerial order (medical certificate), and hold third-party (liability) insurance.
