A permanent coastal lagoon (~7,800 ha) of mangroves separated from the sea by a 28.8 km sandbar; a Ramsar/IBA-class protected ecosystem. As an INPARQUES national park, extractive fishing including spearfishing is restricted/prohibited under the special-regime protected-area rules.

Visit the regional sub-office for speargun inspection and document signing, obtain the Porte de Arpon Deportivo from DAEX, then return to the sub-office to collect the definitive permit.
