Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
A ~10 km2 coastal/estuarine wetland sanctuary (tidal saltwater lagoon and mudflats) at the head of Dubai Creek, declared a protected area in 1998 by Dubai Municipality under Local Order No. 2 of 1998 and a Ramsar site. Managed with standard protected-area provisions banning hunting, shooting and disturbing wildlife; fishing in the sanctuary is illegal. Public access is limited to perimeter bird hides.
