How spearfishing is treated at East Point Aquatic Life Reserve, Darwin (Northern Territory).

Aquatic life reserve in the waters off East Point, Darwin. This is NOT a total closure — amateur fishing is permitted — but the reserve's management plan restricts the gear you may use to rod and line or handline only, which excludes spearguns and hand spears. A 30 cm minimum size and a prohibition on taking sedentary organisms also apply. Declared under the Fisheries Act 1988 by notice in Gazette No. S51 of 8 October 1992.
