Hill River Special Purpose Scientific Reference Area, Jurien Bay Marine Park (Western Australia)

A special-purpose management area of Jurien Bay Marine Park covering the waters off the Hill River mouth between 30°24.191’S and 30°27.467’S, excluding the sanctuary areas inside it. Clause 6(1) of the Prohibition on Recreational Fishing (Jurien Bay Marine Park) Order 2005 prohibits all recreational fishing here. Clause 6(2) restores fishing for rock lobster and clause 6(3) restores shore-based, boat-free abalone, line and net fishing. Spearfishing for finfish is in none of those categories and is therefore prohibited. Enforcement is by DPIRD fisheries officers; the middle scientific reference area, off the Hill River mouth south of Jurien.
