Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Najwat Bul Thamah / Reef Bul Thamah Marine Protected Area.
Coral reef and oyster-bed area in Bahrain's northern offshore waters, roughly 80 km north of the mainland (about 80 km from Amwaj Marina). Designated a Marine Protected Area in 2017 and part of the 2012 UNESCO pearling World Heritage component; an annual whale shark (Rhincodon typus) aggregation site (May/September). Highest coral/algae/reef-fish diversity of Bahrain's reef sites. No exact published boundary; representative northern point.
