Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Caye Caulker Marine Reserve.

Marine and forest reserve established April 1998 off Caye Caulker, comprising ~12,160 acres of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. Spear fishing is explicitly prohibited in the General Use Zone, and no fishing or collection is permitted in the Conservation and Preservation Zones. Like all Belize marine reserves, spear guns and SCUBA harvesting are banned.
