How spearfishing is treated at Half Moon Caye Natural Monument.

First protected area / marine protected area declared in Belize (1981), at the south-east corner of Lighthouse Reef Atoll, co-managed by the Belize Audubon Society and described by it as a non-extractive protected area and no-take replenishment zone. All fishing, spearfishing/spearguns and take of marine life are prohibited; only non-extractive uses (diving, snorkelling, wildlife viewing) are allowed.
