How spearfishing is treated at Swallow Caye Wildlife Sanctuary.

~9,000-acre (36 km2) marine wildlife sanctuary (IUCN category IV, WDPA 313431) east of Belize City, established 2002 to protect Antillean manatees. As a non-extractive wildlife sanctuary the removal of marine life is prohibited and fishing is allowed only with written authorization; spearfishing and spearguns are banned as in all Belize marine protected areas.
