What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Bamingui-Bangoran National Park and Biosphere Reserve (incl. Vassako-Bolo Strict Nature Reserve).

Large national park and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in northern CAR (Bamingui-Bangoran prefecture), ~11,191 km², drained by the Bamingui and Bangoran rivers and their tributaries (NB: the cited Wikipedia source dates the park to 1993, not 1933 as the researcher wrote). As a national park it falls under Art. 28 of the 2020 Fisheries and Aquaculture Code (Loi N° 20.944), which excludes reserves and national parks even from the exceptional fish-gathering authorisations otherwise permitted in protected areas, i.e. fishing (including any freshwater spearfishing) is not authorised. The embedded Vassako-Bolo Strict Nature Reserve is a fully protected core zone.
