What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Parque Nacional Natural Corales de Profundidad (Deep Corals National Natural Park).

Entirely submarine national park (142,195 ha, depths 34-1,234 m) off Bolívar/Sucre/Córdoba, ~32 km from the coast, protecting the San Bernardo deep-coral formation (67% of Colombia's Caribbean deep corals). As a unit of the Sistema de Parques Nacionales Naturales, all fishing except scientific-research permits is banned system-wide (Ley 2 de 1959, art. 13; Decreto 1076 de 2015), so sport/spearfishing is prohibited; the park's own page notes only a subsistence-fishing arrangement with neighboring communities.
