What this zone is
Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Mohéli National Park (Parc National de Mohéli / former Parc Marin de Mohéli).
Comoros' first and largest marine protected area, created in 2001 as Mohéli Marine Park and reclassified as a national park in 2010. Covers coral reefs, mangroves and islets around Mohéli (Mwali) island and protects coelacanth, dugong, marine turtles and humpback whales. Fishing and diving inside the park are governed by its management plan; spear-gun/harpoon use is restricted and no-take/community-managed zones apply.
