Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Parque Nacional Cayos de San Felipe.
National park (IUCN II, approved October 2010 by Acuerdo No. 6871 of the Council of Ministers) covering the San Felipe keys and their marine shelf south of Pinar del Rio. The park's marine zoning bans all fishing in the strict-conservation reef zones (camellones, 3,158 ha) and bans private commercial and sport fishing - which includes spearfishing - in the North (4,988 ha) and South (3,287 ha) fishing reserves; only guided catch-and-release fishing and guided diving are allowed, and anchoring-zone rules expressly list 'caza submarina' (spearfishing) among the banned extractive activities.

Apply to the Oficina Nacional de Inspeccion Estatal of the Ministry of the Food Industry providing identity data and home address (Art. 42). Applicant must be at least 17 years old (Art. 5) and have no fishing-regime violations in the previous 5 years (Art. 21).
