Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Réserve marine du Banc des Kabyles (Banc des Kabyles Marine Reserve, Jijel).

Marine reserve off Jijel on the eastern Algerian Mediterranean coast, associated with Taza National Park (Presidential Decree No. 84-328 of 3 November 1984). About 600 ha; inscribed on the SPAMI list (Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance) in 2005. Protected-area status restricts/prohibits extractive activities including fishing. This is the designated marine no-take/restricted feature within the broader Taza National Park complex.

License requiredvia Ministere de l'Agriculture, du Developpement rural et de la Peche (MADRP) / Directions de la peche et des ressources halieutiques (wilaya level)

Apply to the local fisheries administration (Direction de la peche et des ressources halieutiques of the coastal wilaya). The application file must include a medical certificate attesting physical fitness to dive and a civil-liability insurance contract for underwater fishing (Article 66, Decree 03-481).
