How spearfishing is treated at Reserva Marina de Interese Pesqueiro Os Minarzos (Lira, Carnota, Galicia).

2,074 ha co-managed marine reserve off Lira between the Ria de Muros and Fisterra. Decreto 85/2007 art. 5 bans fishing, extraction and underwater activities across the reserve and excepts only professional artisanal gear, shellfishing and SURFACE recreational fishing — divers may carry no fishing instrument at all, so spearfishing is prohibited. Two inner integral reserves (north and south) ban everything.

License requiredvia Competent fisheries authority of the coastal Autonomous Community (órgano competente de la comunidad autónoma del litoral)

Apply through the fisheries authority of the relevant coastal Autonomous Community (online or in person). A medical certificate of fitness for underwater/free-diving (issued by a doctor qualified in hyperbaric/underwater medicine), or a valid federation licence covering the medical, plus suitable accident insurance, is generally required. ID (DNI for citizens; NIE/passport for foreigners) and payment of the regional fee are needed.
