How spearfishing is treated at Reserva Marina de Interese Pesqueiro Ria de Cedeira (Galicia).

Marine reserve covering the interior waters of the Ria de Cedeira. Decreto 28/2009 art. 4 bans fishing, extraction and underwater activities and excepts only professional artisanal gear, shellfishing and SURFACE recreational fishing; sport divers may carry no fishing instrument. Spearfishing is therefore prohibited, and the Esteiro integral reserve plus the Vilarrube and Boca da Ria special-protection zones are stricter still.

License requiredvia Competent fisheries authority of the coastal Autonomous Community (órgano competente de la comunidad autónoma del litoral)

Apply through the fisheries authority of the relevant coastal Autonomous Community (online or in person). A medical certificate of fitness for underwater/free-diving (issued by a doctor qualified in hyperbaric/underwater medicine), or a valid federation licence covering the medical, plus suitable accident insurance, is generally required. ID (DNI for citizens; NIE/passport for foreigners) and payment of the regional fee are needed.
