How spearfishing is treated at Lundy No Take Zone (Lundy MCZ).
The UK's first statutory No Take Zone, designated on 10 January 2003 by a Devon Sea Fisheries Committee byelaw (now regulated by Devon & Severn IFCA) on the east (sheltered) side of Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel, covering about 3.3 km2 within the Lundy Marine Conservation Zone. The official MPA management body states that within the NTZ 'extraction of anything is prohibited', so all fishing and removal of marine life - including spearfishing - is banned.
