Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Eastern Beach (seasonal underwater-fishing window 1 Oct - 30 Apr).

At Eastern Beach, underwater fishing with or without a weapon is permitted ONLY during 1 October to 30 April (outside the bathing season), under a Class C permit (reg 21(2)(e), Marine Protection Regulations 2014). Eastern Beach is the largest sandy beach in Gibraltar, on the Mediterranean (east) side of the isthmus near the Spanish border.

Apply to the Department of the Environment via the Marine Protection Regulations application form. Requires proof of residency (full permit), a valid medical certificate and insurance cover; applicant must be at least 16.
