Spearfishing, towed-gear fishing, unlicensed mechanical shellfish harvesting and sponge fishing are prohibited in the Grotta–Prolimenas–Palataki marine area off Naxos town (submerged prehistoric settlement; Law 3028/2002 Art. 15(2); YA YPPO/ARCH/A1/F.43/52872/2645, FEK 722B/1992).
