How spearfishing is treated at Koufonisi (Lefki) island and Strongyli, Makrouli, Trachylos islets (Lasithi, Crete).
The sea around the island of Lefki (Koufonisi) and the islets Strongyli, Makrouli and Trachylos, south-east of Crete, was declared an archaeological site by ministerial decision ΥΠΠΟ/ΓΔΑΠΚ/ΑΡΧ/Α1/Φ41/59500/3975 (ΦΕΚ 1689 Β΄/18-12-2003) to protect the submerged part of the ancient city of Leuke. Spearfishing, towed-gear fishing, mechanical shellfish harvesting, sponge fishing and aquaculture are prohibited all around them.
