What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at NMPANS — park-wide spearfishing ban (Zones A & B, Alonissos & Peristera waters).

Throughout the National Marine Park of Alonissos Northern Sporades — i.e. in BOTH Zone A and Zone B, which covers all waters around Alonissos and Peristera islands, not just the Piperi core — underwater fishing with a speargun is prohibited (KYA 23537/2003, FEK 621D/19-06-2003). The only exceptions are the four de-designated stretches of Zone B4 defined per YA YPPOT/GDAPK/ARCH/A1/F43/60806/2748 (FEK 1741B/03-08-2011); see the corresponding 'designated spearfishing areas' entry. Representative point is placed in open water of Zone B south of Peristera.
