How spearfishing is treated at Porto Koufo (Sithonia, Chalkidiki) underwater archaeological site.
Porto Koufo bay on the Sithonia peninsula — the largest natural harbour in Greece — was declared an underwater archaeological site by ministerial decision ΥΠΠΟ/ΓΔΑΠΚ/ΑΡΧ/Α1/Φ43/63059/4320 (ΦΕΚ 1710 Β΄/2003) with a printed coordinate list. Spearfishing, towed-gear fishing, mechanical shellfish harvesting and sponge fishing are prohibited there under KYA ΦΕΚ 336 Β΄/2004 art. Α§2(δ).
