What this zone is

Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Islas del Cisne (Swan Islands) National Marine Park.

Remote Caribbean archipelago (~250 km NE of the mainland) declared a protected area by Executive Agreement No. 3056-91 (Oct 1991), which prohibits hunting, fishing and extraction of natural resources including coral, and ratified as Parque Nacional Marino 'Abogado Agustín Córdova Rodríguez' by Legislative Decree 128-94 (whose gazette publication the government disputed in 2024; the 1991 Acuerdo protection stands), so spearfishing is barred.
