How spearfishing is treated at Raja Ampat - Dampier Strait MPA (no-take core & tourism sub-zone).
Gazetted marine protected area (Kawasan Konservasi Perairan, ~353,441 ha) in the strait between Batanta and Waigeo, the busiest dive area in Raja Ampat. Contains a designated no-take zone (Core Zone / Food Security and Tourism Sub-zone) where all fishing is prohibited; across the whole Raja Ampat MPA network spearfishing by tourists or visitors is prohibited for any purpose (only local communities may use traditional jubi/senapan molo methods in Sustainable Fisheries/Aquaculture zones).
