Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Raja Ampat - Fam Islands MPA (no-take zone).
Gazetted Raja Ampat marine protected area (~359,386 ha, formalized 2021) covering the Fam/Piaynemo island group in the straits between Waigeo and the Bird's Head. Contains a designated no-take zone (Food Security and Tourism Sub-zone / No Take Zone) where all fishing is prohibited; spearfishing by tourists/visitors is prohibited throughout the Raja Ampat MPA network.
