Dún Laoghaire Harbour
What this zone is
Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Dún Laoghaire Harbour.
Dún Laoghaire Harbour Bye-Laws (made 7 September 1999 under the Harbours Act 1996; harbour managed by DLR County Council since 2018) prohibit bathing anywhere in the harbour except authorised organised swims (bye-law 87) and prohibit fishing from the western end of Traders' Wharf, the Marina breakwaters and part of the West Pier (bye-law 79). Because entering the water is prohibited, spearfishing is effectively prohibited throughout the harbour.
