Zona A (integral reserve) surrounding the Variglioni rocks off the Isola dei Cavoli, Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area, delimited by the regolamento D.M. 7 febbraio 2012 (G.U. n. 113 of 16 May 2012). Spearfishing is banned here twice over: art. 5 of the establishing decree prohibits pesca subacquea throughout the AMP, and inside zona A only rescue, service, authorised research and guided diving with a Villasimius-based dive centre are allowed.

Register as a recreational/sport sea fisher (age 16+) via the national MASAF system; from January 2026 register and declare catches of listed species through the EU RecFishing app under Reg. (UE) 2023/2842. No exam required for spearfishing itself.
