Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) — designated spearfishing zones
What this zone is
Overview
How spearfishing is treated at Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) — designated spearfishing zones.
Italy's largest lake, straddling Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino. The 2024 interregional fishing regulation (Veneto R.R. n.2 of 9 Aug 2024; Art. 10 comma 4) explicitly permits breath-hold (apnea) spearfishing in zones and periods designated by the competent regional fisheries authority. Requirements: age 18+, inland fishing licence Category A or B, speargun with harpoon of no more than 5 points, daylight hours (sunrise to sunset), mandatory signalling buoy (red flag with white diagonal stripe) and a support vessel; minimum distances from protected/bathing/ferry zones and fish farms apply. This is an inland freshwater lake.
