Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Boscobel East Special Fishery Conservation Area.

Fish sanctuary in St. Mary added by the 2016 amendment (Sixteenth Schedule). Fishing (including spearfishing) is prohibited except during rotating permitted periods set out in regulation 4A; outside those periods all fishing is an offence (fine up to J$1,000,000). Official boundary starts at Point A near a place known locally as Old House (18 deg 24' 24.97" N, 76 deg 58' 21.64" W), in the vicinity of the Ian Fleming Airport.

License requiredvia National Fisheries Authority (NFA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining

Apply and register online via the National Fisheries Authority IrieFINS online licensing and registration system, or contact the NFA directly. Under the Fisheries Act, 2018 (s.25) no person may engage in fishing without the appropriate licence, authorization or permit, and contravention is an offence.
