Overview

How spearfishing is treated at Galleon Harbour Special Fishery Conservation Area.

Fish sanctuary in the Old Harbour Bay / Portland Bight area, St. Catherine (includes Little and Great Goat Islands); fishing prohibited except under licence (SFCA Reg. 4). Official boundary starts at Point A, a land-based mark at Carbarita Point (17 deg 50' 43.753" N, 77 deg 02' 21.231" W).

License requiredvia National Fisheries Authority (NFA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining

Apply and register online via the National Fisheries Authority IrieFINS online licensing and registration system, or contact the NFA directly. Under the Fisheries Act, 2018 (s.25) no person may engage in fishing without the appropriate licence, authorization or permit, and contravention is an offence.
